It’s quiet out here, hombre (0)
Holla!
Has been awhile since I’ve managed to update mah blog, so I thought to fart some thoughts out. Lately I’ve been doing nothing but work, watching tv-series and had good times playing. It’s now about a month since I came back to Finland from India, and oh how i miss that place. It’s so depressing when you look out of the window and see nothing but cold concrete buildings and grey weather. I wish i could get back to Asia, but reality kicks in when i look my bank account…not good.
I’ve been trying to kick my radio project up recently, and so far it has been success (in my eyes)
. I’ve had few broadcasts, and had usually +10 listeners, which is more than I ever thought there would be!. I’m trying to have 2-3 broadcasts per month, but that depends heavily of my mood.
And in the end some good music from Polarbearland (that is Finland): Huoratron – Prevenge (Spotify link.)

Holla!
Here I am, at Rishikesh. Hotel has awesome view from balcony, and I think I could spend a loooong time here. Unfortunately, my time is running out, just 2 more days here, then I’m heading to Haridwar and back to Delhi by wednesday. Friday morning my flight leaves to winter wonderland Finland, and I just hope there is not freezing weather anymore…
After I get home, I’ll try to get some photos up on the next weekend hopefully, but as there is shitload of photos, it may take some time to go through everything.
- Yours truly.
PS: I think this blog may see it’s end soon, for reasons not depending on me. Some haters are using my texts against me, and I really don’t have the energy to get on this fight. I’ll just say, live your life and don’t try to mess others. Peace.
India, part III (0)
I thought I’d post a brief update:
We have been sick this week, and Varanasi was getting on nerves because there was no electricity, so we decided to fly to Delhi. We came here wednesday, and today we are going by train to Haridwar and from there is one hour bus trip to Rishikesh, the yoga capital of India \o/
Apart from that, two weeks have went past really fast, and I feel like i came here just few days ago. Only one week left, and then It’s time to head back to the ratrace in Helsinki. So, I’m heading to north, see you soon!

5.5, Delhi
…We didn’t got the energy to go anywhere, so we just went to restaurant to eat, and then laid back for the rest of the day. Tested local shake called lassi, damn it was good! Today I need to pack and tomorrow we’re heading to see the mighty taj! Getting better from the flu, which is good. Starting to get rid of the stress aswell, haha.
6.5, Agra
We came from Delhi By train, which took about 4 hours instead of the supposed 3 hours. But that’s India, everything goes by it’s own weight and people here doesn’t stress too much from anything. Met a Swedish couple at train, and we took a rickshaw ride with them to Taj Mahal south gate. Man I say, the rickshaw-drivers here as annoying. I felt like I’d want to punch one guy in the face.
Went to see the mighty Taj, and for once I went silent. It just is so amazing and powerful experience to see itself. Inside the Taj it wasn’t so amazing, I thought it looked much bigger outside.
Now we’re sitting at the coffee shop, eating food and drinking cola, and I’m looking out of the window as Agra’s childs are playing outside.
…ATM I’m in Varanasi, but since internet here really sucks, I’ll post more when I get to more trustworthy communications (this post took over an hour and two internet cafes to make this far.)

India, Part I (1)
Since I can’t get to internet every day, i thought I’d just copypaste stuff here from my “manual” blog, also called pen and paper
.
Day I, New Delhi
We arrived to the airport morning at 6 am. After exhasting +6hours flight we took a prepaid taxi to Pahar Ganj, where our hotel was located. Slept for whole morning, and after that we took a tour aroung Pahar Ganj, to see what’s going on here. It seems obvious that this corner of Delhi is mostly tourist attractions, since there is more than enough of these “Hello Sir”-guys hanging around and walking with you.
I managed to get flu in Finland just day before the flight, so I’ve been trying to get better. I have to say that India is overwhelming and bombarding my senses, but only in good way. Nice and warm weather, Good food…
Day II, New Delhi
Today we went to buy train tickets, and at the station there were the usual touts trying to get us to the “tourist offices”, good thing we knew not to trust these, since the only official tourist office is located in the train station. Bought tickets to Agra and Varanasi on thursday, they were about 480 Indian Rupees, which is about 8 euros, not bad for 1000km train ride
. We also went to Connaught Place just to find out that there were even more annoying “Hello Sir”s around. Went to expensive Indian restaurant, and I had the best vegetarian food I’ve ever eaten. Even though it was fancy restaurant, main course there was about 300INR, which is about 5 euros. Pricy for Indians, cheap for us rich-ass Eurofags. We found a liquor store from Connaught Place, and bought a bottle of local whiskey called “Officer’s choice”. Cost 130INR, about 2 euros. It tastes almost like gasoline
Day II, New Delhi, part II
Went to local bar called GEM today. Took a couple of kingfishers, and watched cricket game with locals. Snacks in local bars are bit different than in Finland, as “snacks” in Finland are usually something like salted peanuts or something similar, here we got a whole chicken with naan-bread as snacks. Beat that, helsinki bars. As I have probably said earlier, the weather here is absolutely perfect, about 30 degrees celsius at nights and 40-45 celsius at days. I just love the weather, and I love India, dispite of the “hello sir”s.
…As for today, we probably go to see old Delhi and Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial and pay our respects for the man.

Holla!
It’s only matter of hours till i need to get my arse to Helsinki-Vantaa airport. I have a night flight direclty to Delhi, as it wasn’t much pricier than one-stop flight (HEL-SVO-DEL) and i save hours of waiting and all the hassle, plus you’ll get free beer on finnairs flights
. I have packed all necessary stuff, just waiting for my friend Ville to come to Helsinki and we’ll go eat and have a couple of brews. I’m taking my Olympus E-420 with me (with olympus 14-42mm optics), aswell as 20Gb memory card and couple of batteries, and i hope i get some good photos on my way. As far as it comes to updating my blog and uploading photos, don’t expect too much, as I think I’ll upload all my photos after the trip so i can do a bit photoshop magic to ‘em, and for blog, I’m not sure how often I can get to computer with net access, as we’re travelling around India, and I don’t know if there is public computer with net in small towns. But we’ll see that then, bye bye cold Finland for few weeks.
New image gallery (0)
Some of you maybe have noticed that my image gallery wasn’t long based on pixelpost. I think it lacks few things that I’d like to have, ie. Subfolders/Categories for images. My friend Kalle tipped of from a good gallery called Zenphoto, and I spent my last night tweaking it, and so far it seems like a good one. I need to make a new theme to the gallery, but that’s gonna take a while considering my php/css-skills (or lack of them). But atleast i got that up!.
Good news and bad news (0)
Hi!
I’ts been quiet for a moment now, so I thought I’d posted a brief update to travel plans etc.
Good news first:
Today I finally got last shots of my vaccinations (A+B hepatitis + poliomyelitis), and there’s only 9 work days left to vacation
. I can’t wait. Also I thought I’d change my photoblog from wordpress to pixelpost, which handles that part better. As you see, there’s barely any pictures in there atm, but bare with me, I will post pictures when i have the energy and the motivation. Problem is, in here i see only grey building blocks and nothing gets me on the mood to photograph something, or anything at all. But when i hit the road, that’s going probably to change.
On the other hand, the bad news:
Well, like probably everybody know (or atleast should know by now) volcano called Eyjafjallajoekull started to erupt last week, and as you know, most of the European airspace is grounded, including Helsinki-Vantaa(HEL) airport. At the moment airport is open for today, but tomorrow may be different, and new clouds of volcanic ash are coming this way. You may think thay how is that bad news? Well, that may just blow my trip to India. But the good part is that when all these planes are now grounded, there will be over 200 tons less CO2-emissions every day, yay!
